David Copelin

David Copelin (photo: Liz Marshall)David Copelin (Toronto, ON)  David is a playwright, dramaturg, translator, and a graduate of Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama. Formerly Treasurer of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, he is also a founding member and former president of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).  David’s translation of Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi has been staged at the Shaw Festival and the Yale Repertory Theatre, as well as at many universities. David leads independent “Sizzlin' Scripts” workshops in Toronto, and teaches playwriting and screenwriting at Brock University. His original plays include Mind over Matter, Quite Contrary, and Bella Donna, which won Best Play at the 2005 Toronto Fringe Festival and is published by Playwrights Canada Press. David is currently writing a new play, The Rabbi of Ragged Ass Road.
